Winter weather travel advisory ends for Durham, York Regions

A winter weather travel advisory has ended for York and Durham Regions as the heavy rain changed to snow overnight.

Caledon in Halton-Peel was also under the travel advisory but it was lifted Thursday morning.

The advisory from Environment Canada said local snowfall accumulations could be between four to eight centimetres and create slippery, slushy driving conditions.

The snow was expected to begin Wednesday night and continue on Thursday morning.

CityNews meteorologist Jessie Uppal said temperatures were expected to hover above the freezing mark but there was a chance of a wintry mix.

A warm-up is expected on Friday into the weekend with double-digit temperatures and sunshine.
