What does Toronto’s WNBA expansion say about women’s sports today? | CBC Arts
Last week, basketball fans across Canada got the news they’ve been waiting years to hear: the country is getting its first WNBA team, based in Toronto.
The news comes at a time when the WNBA itself is building steam, thanks to names like Angel Reese, Kamila Cardoso, and Caitlin Clark (who has been the talk of the town among basketball fans for months).
Sports journalist Shireen Ahmed and culture critic Andrea Williams join host Elamin Abdelmahmoud to celebrate this moment the WNBA is having, and look ahead to its future in Canada.
