Toronto International Film Festival 2024: Know dates and Indian films to be screened there – CNBC TV18

The 49th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has announced its lineup of Galas and Special Presentations. New films from directors Angelina Jolie and Mike Leigh as well as actors Jennifer Lopez and Pamela Anderson top the lineup.

Filmmaker Reema Kagti’s Superboys of Malegaon is also set to make its world premiere at the festival, which will take place from September 5 to 15 later this year. The film features Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh and Shashank Arora.

Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light will have its Canadian premiere.

The works of directors Jacques Audiard, Gia Coppola, Morgan Neville, Walter Salles, Athina Rachel Tsangari, and Jia Zhang-Ke among others will be featured at the festival. The films this year will also bring several popular stars to the TIFF red carpet. Among them are Amy Adams, Riz Ahmed, Cate Blanchett, Andrea Bocelli, Will Ferrell, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, and Robbie Williams among others, read an official statement.

49th TIFF: When and where to watch?

The Toronto International Film Festival 2024 is all set to kickstart on September 5. The opening film will be David Gordon Green’s Nutcrackers, featuring Ben Stiller in the lead. The closing film of the festival will be Rebel Wilson’s directorial debut The Deb on September 14. The festival will come to an end on September 15.

As per the official schedule, the tickets for the TIFF 2024 will go on sale to TIFF members by level beginning on August 16. The full schedule will be released on August 13.

49th TIFF: Lineup

Among the films all set for world premieres include Angelina Jolie‘s war drama Without Blood, starring Salma Hayek and Demian Bichir.

Hard Truths, which is Mike Leigh’s first movie in six years, will also be premiered. The film stars Marianne Jean-Baptiste and is said to be “a tragicomic study of human strengths and weaknesses”.

Also, there is William Goldenberg’s biographical sports drama film Unstoppable, starring Jennifer Lopez. The film was produced by her husband Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Lopez is joined by Emmy-winner Jharrel Jerome, who plays Anthony Robles, a wrestler born with just one leg.

Further, the festival will see the world premiere of Heretic, a horror film that stars Hugh Grant in the lead.
