Toronto, GTA could see up to 10 cm of snow on Monday
Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Toronto and the GTA.
The national weather service says snow is expected to move into the region Monday morning, dropping a few centimetres for the morning commute. Another more significant round of snow is expected to arrive Monday night before tapering off to flurries and possibly freezing drizzle as temperatures hover near the freezing mark.
Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and Markham could see upwards of 10 centimetres while Caledon, Northern York Region and Durham could get as much as 15 centimetres.
“Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly,” Environment Canada says. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
Temperatures are expected to hover near the freezing mark for the next several days and according to 680 NewsRadio meteorologist Carl Lam that should be enough to have a white Christmas – at least on the ground – for Wednesday.
