Shots fired at high-end jewellery store in Midtown Toronto

A jewellery store in Midtown Toronto was the target of an overnight shooting for the second time in as many days as police worked to determine the circumstances of the incident.

Toronto Police Services said shots were fired from a vehicle at Kilani Jewellery, located in the Eglinton Avenue West and Bathurst Street area, just after 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

Authorities were similarly notified of a shooting targeting the store on Monday. Toronto Paramedic Services said no injuries were reported.

Kilani Jewellery is a prominent retailer in Toronto. It is recognized as the Raptors’ official jewellery sponsor and has collaborated with several high-profile clients, including rapper Drake and former Raptors guards Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr.

“It’s a high-end jewellery store, so it’s a little surprising to see [a shooting] happen in this neighbourhood for the second time,” one resident said in an interview with CityNews.

A small portion of Eglinton Avenue West was closed west of Bathurst Street for the investigation.

A suspect description was not provided.
