Service disruptions lead to overcrowding at busy subway stations: Toronto police


Toronto police say signal issues have led to crowding at some busy subway stations, including Union Station, this morning.


In a post on social media, police said service interruptions has led to “crowds spilling out onto the streets” at Union Station, Bloor Station, St. Clair Station, and York Mills Station.


TTC spokesperson Stuart Green said service was suspended between St. George and Finch stations earlier this morning due to signal issues. Service resumed at around 8 a.m. but the issue is causing residual 20-minute delays on Line 1 as a result.


A separate incident at York Mills Station caused delays between St. Clair and Finch stations but service has now resumed along that stretch.


Police are urging commuters to “use caution” in the areas where overcrowding has been reported.
