Sections of DVP, Lakeshore flooded again after Toronto rainfall, thunderstorm watch – Daily Commercial News

TORONTO – Sections of Toronto roadways, previously inundated by a major storm last week, have once again flooded after heavy rain drenched the city and much of southern Ontario today.

Toronto police say water has flooded parts of both the Don Valley Parkway and Lakeshore Boulevard, which were both closed for hours after last Tuesday’s storm.

Police say one eastbound lane on Lakeshore Boulevard at Ontario Drive was completely under water, but levels are dropping, and one lane on the Don Valley Parkway near the Bloor Viaduct is also flooded.

The city’s transit agency says subway trains are not stopping at Osgoode Station in the city’s downtown area due to flooding.

A severe thunderstorm watch for Toronto warned of possible strong winds and torrential downpours of up to 50 millimetres an hour.

It comes a week after Toronto was hit with nearly 100 millimeters of rain and widespread flooding.
