Raising Cane’s clears rumours and confirms it’s not opening a restaurant in Toronto – NOW Toronto
American restaurant Raising Cane’s has confirmed it is not coming to Toronto, amid rumours online of the chain opening a location in the city.
This comes following recent videos shared on TikTok claiming that the fast-food chain is coming to Toronto, a hoax which caught the attention of thousands of users online. The videos appear to be from a spoof account with the restaurant’s name.
On Thursday, a media spokesperson for Raising Cane’s confirmed to Now Toronto that the videos are fake and that they have caused a big stir within the company, as customers have been calling to confirm.
“.. As of right now, there is no plan to go to Toronto,” they said in a phone call.
The establishment also said it currently has no plans to open a location in Toronto in the future.
“…We do not have a location planned for your area. Since it is our vision to have restaurants all over the world and be known as the brand for quality chicken finger meals. We will certainly keep your suggestion in mind for our future growth plans,” a statement to Now Toronto read.
Raising Cane’s is famously known for serving chicken fingers along with its mouth watering sauce. The company was founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey.
The franchise stands as one of the fastest growing American chain restaurants and is a popular fast food favourite amongst locals and tourists.
Editor’s Note: Now Toronto incorrectly reported that Raising Cane’s is opening a restaurant in Toronto but has since retracted that story.
