Police watchdog investigating man’s death in Scarborough | CBC News
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says it’s probing the death of a 34-year-old man in Scarborough who died following interactions with Toronto police on Thursday.
The police watchdog said in a news release that a father contacted emergency services Thursday morning to report his son was in distress and running into traffic in the area of Ellesmere and Kennedy roads.
Paramedics and Toronto police arrived and “attempted to help” the 34-year-old man, the SIU said.
“Shortly after the man went vital signs absent. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” said the SIU in a news release.
The watchdog is asking the public to contact the lead investigator if they have any information at 1-800-787-8529 or online at: https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php.
