No trains on Barrie GO line this weekend — here’s how you can get to Union Station and back

If you are travelling on GO Transit’s Barrie line this weekend, it will be the bus for you.

There will be no train service on the line, the transit agency said.

Trains will stop operating starting on Friday, Oct. 25 at 10 p.m. and will not operate on Saturday and Sunday.

The train service disruption is due to construction.

“This construction is important for expanding our service to serve you better, with more frequent service, more stations, cleaner technology, and more connections,” GO Transit said in a service advisory.

What riders need to know

Replacement buses will run between the Highway 407 Bus Terminal and the Barrie Bus Terminal, serving all regular train stops with two exceptions.

From Friday at 10 p.m. right through Sunday, replacement buses will not stop at Downsview Park GO.

Additionally, all Saturday and Sunday, replacement buses will not stop at Union Station.

Riders travelling to or from Union Station or Downsview Park GO will be asked to take the TTC. Riders can connect with the TTC Line 1 (Yonge-University) at the Highway 407 station.

Additional information about the Oct. 25 to 27 service change is available on the GO Transit website.
