New cafe takes over spot vacated by comic book store and coffee shop in Toronto – YourCityWithIN.com


When one door closes, another one opens. 

This past summer, coffee and comic book fans in Leslieville were sad to say goodbye to Sidekick, a cafe and comic book shop that closed its doors after nearly 10 years in Toronto.

But while many missed the cozy spot, the space didn’t remain vacant for long and now, new owners are serving coffee and pastries out of the Queen Street East location. 

Recently, The Greenwood opened its doors and while the cafe doesn’t appear to have much online presence just yet, it’s been steadily generating buzz on local Facebook groups for its wide array of beverages, baked goods, ample seating and modern look. 

The cafe, which has removed Sidekick’s ample shelving to offer more seating along the side wall, has kept the fireplace and old-school box-style TV. It’s also still serving coffee, offering a menu that features drip coffee, Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, macchiatos, flat whites, mochas, teas and tea lattes and more. 

The cafe also offers a range of sweet and savoury baked goods, as well as boxed and wrapped salads and sandwiches.
