The baseball world was hit with extremely sad news this morning as MLB legend and former Toronto Blue Jays player Rickey Henderson has tragically passed away at 65 years old.

Henderson is regarded as one of the best players to ever play as he was a 10-time all-star, two time World Series champion, 1990 AL MVP and 12-time stolen base leader while also holding the record for most stolen bases in a career with 1,406.

Tragic news announced this morning as MLB legend Rickey Henderson has passed away at 65 years old

Reports began last night that Henderson had passed away but no reliable source was confirming the news until long time friend and teammate Dave Winfield posted on Instagram this morning stating the news.

Since Winfield shared the post, many have still been questioning the news but now it seems like it is accurate as multiple sources have confirmed the tragic news regarding Henderson who passed away from a pneumonia.

Ricky Henderson dying of pneumonia at 65 is a shocker.

Easily the greatest leadoff hitter in MLB history. A stolen base waiting to happen.

Watched him play several times in Oakland where he was beloved.

Quite the hilarious character. His cockiness was endearing, IMO.

This is heartbreaking news for the entire baseball world as Henderson was larger than life with incredible skill and massive confidence that made him must watch television.

While he only spent 1 season with the Blue Jays, he was part of the back to back World Series in win in 1993 making him a legend in Toronto forever.
