Michigan Lottery Recognizes Responsible Gaming Education Month in September
September is Responsible Gaming Education Month, and Michigan Lottery is highlighting the availability of prevention, treatment, and recovery services in the state of Michigan.
As Responsible Gaming Education Month begins, the Lottery continues to remind players that the National Problem Gambling Helpline is available to provide free, one-on-one support for players who may have a problem. For confidential help 24 hours a day, seven days a week, players may call 1-800-GAMBLER Chat and text options also are available through www.michiganlottery.com.
“The Lottery is committed to encouraging Michiganders to enjoy our games responsibly,” said Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “We offer a variety of tools and resources to help keep online play fun and safe, and Lottery retailers have access to information on responsible gaming that can be shared with those who purchase Lottery products. Most importantly, free, and confidential resources are available to anyone who feels they have a gambling problem by calling 1-800-GAMBLER.”
Each year, the Lottery provides $1 million to the compulsive gaming prevention fund, which the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services uses to fund statewide education and treatment programs for problem gambling.
Players who play the Lottery’s online games have access to several responsible gaming safeguards and tools including:
- A variety of self-exclusion periods
- Daily and weekly deposit Limits
- Daily Loss Limits
- A variety of Cool Off periods
- Age verification at account registration
- Play history to monitor gaming activity
