Man dead after 2-vehicle crash on Albion Road | CBC News

Toronto police say a male driver is dead after a violent two-vehicle crash in an industrial area of Etobicoke on Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Albion Road and Claireport Crescent at around 10:10 a.m., police said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say a Nissan sedan was travelling east at the same time as a transport truck was travelling west on Albion. The sedan collided with the transport truck on that road, west of Claireport, police say.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. Police have not released the driver’s age or identity.

A second patient was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Images from the scene show a transport truck with its front hood torn off and a black sedan that had been crumpled by the force of the collision.

Albion Road was closed in both directions west of Highway 427 for the investigation, but has since reopened.

The fatal crash marks the fifth time someone in an automobile has died on a Toronto roadway in 2024, according to the police service’s Vision Zero dashboard.

The city introduced Vision Zero in 2016 with the goal of eliminating traffic-related deaths, a goal it has yet to meet.

Anyone who saw the crash or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact investigators.
