With the amount of controversy in the world today regarding gender in sporting competitions, an intergender Jiu Jitsu bout was always going to be problematic.

And then one fighter made it exponentially worse.

At the face off after the weigh-in for the first-ever mixed sexes Jiu Jitsu bout, male combatant Craig Jones grabbed his female opponent, Gabi Garcia, by the face and forcibly kissed her.

This enraged the Brazilian, who could be heard saying “Man. You’re a b**** man. Craig, really? F*** you. You crossed the line, crossed the line, crossed the line.”

She screamed and gave chase as Jones retreated. Understandably incensed by the situation, Garcia, 38, also was seen hitting a camera that was recording her.

Later on social media, Jones posted that “Brazilians can’t take a joke” and that the fight was off – which he walked back, saying it was “back on.”

When it came time to get in the ring, Jones was able to maintain control over his larger opponent eventually maneuvering into a guillotine choke and securing the victory by submission.

The win was greeted with a smattering of boos as Jones released the hold.

At 6-foot-2 and weighing 235 pounds, Garcia is two inches taller and 30 pounds heavier than the 33-year-old Australian, according to reports.

After the fight, Garcia got on her knees and bowed her head as a show of respect, despite what had happened earlier in the week.

She later took to social media to praise Jones.

“I really want to express my gratitude and love for you @craigjonesbjj!,” she posted in an Instagram Story.

“This months you worked hard and change the sport! I hope one day people have the chance to know you!

“U are an incredible person! Genuine! Funny and one of my best friends now! I’m proud of you! U made!!

“Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make one more dream come true!

“I wait one life for this moment and only happened because you! From my heart love and respect!”
