A fiery crash involving a tractor-trailer on Highway 401 in Toronto Wednesday morning has shut down westbound express lanes.

According to OPP, the impacted lanes will be closed to traffic for several hours as police investigate and the crash scene is cleaned up. Police expect the lanes to reopen no earlier than noon.

OPP stated the incident occurred when the driver of the large truck collided with a highway barrier around 5 a.m. After the collision, the driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

OPP officers also provided an update this morning indicating that the southbound HOV tunnel on Highway 404 leading to Highway 401 westbound will also be closed due to the collision.

No official word has been provided on when the tunnel will reopen.
