Feds to support $149 million Toronto Railpath extension – Daily Commercial News
TORONTO — The federal government has announced it will contribute $23 million to help extend the West Toronto Railpath.
The allocation will extend the path by two kilometres, from Dundas Street West at Sterling Road to west of Abell Street at Sudbury Street, stated a release. The $149-million extension will provide better access to the Bloor GO Station and the planned King-Liberty transit station.
The federal contribution of $23.028 million comes from its Active Transportation Fund. The City of Toronto is contributing $125.8 million.
“The West Toronto Railpath’s innovative use of public land connects members of our community to local parks, schools and other community hubs,” stated Ward 9 Coun. Alejandra Bravo in a statement. “Today’s investment will help the West Toronto Railpath reach even more people and encourage active transportation that will help Toronto meet our climate action goals.”
