Ex-Winnipeg gym teacher sexually assaulted underage girl: Cops

A former Winnipeg gym teacher and coach has been hammered with a slew of sex charges in connection to an underage girl.

Cops say Amanda Rachelle Sherrett, 41, is facing charges of sexual exploitation, sexual assault, and luring a person under 18 by means of telecommunication.

The Winnipeg woman had worked as a phys. ed. teacher at the city’s Collège Béliveau. The girl was a student at the school at the time of the alleged offences.

According to cops, the teen girl was allegedly groomed by Sherrett. That gambit allegedly led to ” inappropriate and physical and sexual contact” on school field trips. Investigators say that the sex crimes continued after the teen left the school.

The Louis Riel School Division said in a statement released Monday that officials are assisting police with the probe. The board noted that Sherrett was immediately removed once the offences were reported.

The former teacher has been released with conditions.

Police have so far not said whether there are additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Winnipeg police child abuse investigators at 204-986-3296.

Meanwhile, in Harris County, Texas, a teacher and her son have been arrested on charges of child sex trafficking and prostitution-related charges. According to police, Kedria Grigsby, 42, and her son, 21-year-old Roger Magee, preyed upon vulnerable students.

Grigsby is the cosmetology teacher at Klein Cain High School outside Houston and has been placed on administrative leave, a district spokesperson told KHOU and KPRC.

The alleged victims were three runaway teens, aged 15, 16 and 17. Harris County Sheriffs say Grigsby aided her son in the alleged sex trafficking scheme.
