The Town of East Gwillimbury has been selected as one of Greater Toronto’s Top 2025 Employers, recognizing its commitment to foster a positive work environment, promote employee well-being, and provide exceptional career opportunities.
Each year, Mediacorp Canada reviews an average of 1,000 applications from the public and private sectors and selects approximately 170 employers for the award, a town news release stated.
“I am so proud of Team EG and the work staff have done to achieve this award,” said Mayor Virginia Hackson. “Being selected as one of Greater Toronto’s Top 2025 Employers is a testament to the hard work, passion, and commitment of our staff. We will continue to invest in our people and create a workplace that fosters collaboration, growth, and inclusion, ensuring EG remains a vibrant and thriving community for everyone.”
Key factors that contributed to EG’s recognition include:
- Prioritizing employee physical and emotional health with a discounted membership to Goodlife Fitness and providing coverage for mental health care as part of its benefits plan, to a maximum of $2,000 per year.
- Maternity and parental leave top-up policy for employees who are expecting new additions to their families, to 75 per cent of salary for up to 25 weeks for mothers and up to 15 weeks for fathers and adoptive parents.
- Succession and retirement planning assistance and contributions to a defined benefit pension plan and honours retirees’ long service.
