Toronto police have charged a 16-year-old boy after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed during a large fight near Weston Collegiate Institute in the Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West on Tuesday.

Officers were called to the intersection just before 3:30 p.m. to reports of up to 30 people fighting.

The 15-year-old victim was stabbed in the torso and transported to hospital by paramedics with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He is now in stable condition.

Two other teens suffered minor injuries in the brawl.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested and is now facing charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and weapons dangerous.

It’s unknown if the males were all known to each other.

Toronto District School Board spokesperson Ryan Bird says while the incident took place off school property and after the school day had ended, “we will continue to work with students, staff, community members and Toronto Police to support in any way we can. We all play a role in helping make our communities safer.”
