Over 45 leaders from various industries, including travel and tourism, aviation, business, healthcare, manufacturing, the arts, retail, and education, have signed an open letter advocating for the continued operation and development of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport generates $2.1 billion in annual economic output. It is the ninth-busiest airport in Canada and the fifth-busiest Canada-US air crossing. The airport offers 20 direct flights and more than 100 connections, and it enjoys strong support from Torontonians due to the quick and convenient connectivity it provides.

For over a century, PortsToronto has collaborated with federal, provincial, and municipal partners to boost the economic growth of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. PortsToronto manages Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, which served approximately 2.8 million passengers in 2019. Additionally, it operates the Outer Harbour Marina, one of Canada’s largest freshwater marinas, and Marine Terminal 52, which offers transportation, distribution, storage, and container services to businesses at the Port of Toronto.

Dedicated to building strong, healthy, and sustainable communities, PortsToronto has invested over $14 million since 2009 in charitable initiatives and environmental programs that benefit communities along Toronto’s waterfront and beyond. PortsToronto functions in accordance with the Canada Marine Act and is overseen by a nine-member board representing all three levels of government.
