Air Canada returns to Baltimore in May 2025, launching daily Bombardier CRJ900 flights from Toronto, reconnecting two major cities with seamless service.

Air Canada, Canada’s largest airline and a leading provider of transborder flights between Canada and the United States, is set to make its return to Baltimore in 2025. Beginning in May, the airline will launch daily flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

According to Cirium, Air Canada operates over 10,000 flights monthly between the two countries, holding roughly one-third of the market share in this sector. The airline last serviced Baltimore in April this year, and its return marks a significant development for travelers in both regions.

As highlighted by Ishrion Aviation on X (formerly Twitter), Air Canada will resume its Baltimore operations on May 1, 2025. The inaugural flight from Toronto to Baltimore will take off on this date, with the return flight scheduled for the following day. Jazz, the regional carrier operating on behalf of Air Canada, will utilize Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft for this route, offering a capacity of 76 passengers.

Air Canada’s Upcoming Toronto-Baltimore Route

Air Canada is set to launch a new route between Toronto and Baltimore, covering a distance of 347 miles. The flights are scheduled to take approximately 90 minutes each way and will follow the timetable below:

Origin Destination Departure Arrival
Toronto Baltimore 20:55 22:23
Baltimore Toronto 08:30 10:02

Based on data available from Cirium through July 2025, Air Canada plans to operate this route daily, offering nearly 5,000 roundtrip seats each month. Between May and July 2025, there will be a total of 13,908 seats available across 183 roundtrip flights.

The last scheduled Air Canada flight to touch down at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) was on April 1, 2024, arriving from Toronto. Historically, the Toronto-Baltimore route was operated year-round with consistent service since May 2022. Additionally, Air Canada briefly connected Montreal with Baltimore in June 2022, though this service ended in early July 2022. Simple Flying contacted Air Canada for a statement but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

Service to Other Washington-Area Airports

While Baltimore has not seen recent service from Air Canada, the airline continues to operate flights to two other nearby airports: Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). From January to July 2025, Air Canada will connect Montreal and Toronto to Dulles, and Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa to DCA, with more than 600 monthly roundtrip flights between these two U.S. airports.

The busiest air route from Canada to the Washington D.C. area is between Toronto and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), with an average of four daily roundtrip flights. These flights are operated by Jazz using 76-seat CRJ-900 aircraft. The Toronto-DCA flight covers 359 miles, just 12 miles more than the distance to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). Each month, Air Canada has the capacity to transport nearly 20,000 passengers on this route.

The second busiest route is between Montreal and DCA, with an average of three daily roundtrip flights. From January to July, Air Canada has scheduled over 1,200 roundtrip flights on this route, providing nearly 100,000 seats during that period. Similar to the Toronto route, Jazz operates these flights with CRJ-900 aircraft.
