What will the Atlanta Braves do this summer at the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline?
Atlanta currently has the top National League Wild Card spot with an impressive 50-39 record. The Braves have been bitten by the injury bug this season but they still have a chance to make a deep playoff run in 2024.
It’s unclear exactly what Atlanta will do, but it has been linked to a handful of players. One player who surprisingly was mentioned as a fit is Toronto Blue Jays superstar Bo Bichette by CBS Sports’ R.J. Anderson.
“It’s not so simple to describe this as pure cause and effect — more goes into a team’s fate than the contributions (or lack thereof) from one player — but Bichette’s disappointing season to date helps explain in part why the Blue Jays have underperformed,” Anderson said. “We still expect him to be a popular target over the ensuing weeks.
“Bichette isn’t barreling the ball as frequently as he normally does, yet he’s a 26-year-old with an established record of being a well-above-average hitter and another season of team control. We’ll see if the Blue Jays want to tear down their core this summer; if so, Bichette should fetch the biggest return. Potential suitors: Braves, (San Francisco Giants), (Cleveland Guardians).”
Bichette has had a down year, but he is just 26 years old and has two All-Star nods under his belt. Plus, he led the American League in hits in 2021 and 2022. He’s under team control for the 2025 season and there’s a chance he could be moved.
